Our Liverpool Beatles tour is a unique chance to relive the most exciting period in the history of popular music celebrating the 50th anniversary of the most famous group the world has ever known, in the place where it all began. Please see below for how best to include a Beatles Tour in your vacation.**
I was born in Liverpool, went to school in 'Strawberry Fields', caught the bus from Penny Lane and have many happy memories of the original Cavern Club where we witnessed our local band rise to world stardom. All the locations associated with the early Beatles story are second nature to me as I were there and saw it all first hand.
Music fans across the world know Liverpool as the home of The Beatles, and the City proudly remembers its most famous sons with a range of attractions dedicated to the Fab Four. Visit the world famous Cavern Club and the award-winning Beatles Story in the Albert Dock for a unique interactive tour through the lives and times of John, Paul, George and Ringo – from the early days to their solo careers. The Beatles Story site at the Pier Head is home to the recently-opened exhibition British Invasion: how 1960s beat groups conquered America, which is curated by The GRAMMYs Museum in LA. Here you can see The Hidden Gallery: A photographic exhibition that displays thirty-eight black and white shots of the Beatles taken between 1963-1964 by photographer Paul Berriff who unearthed the photos in his attic after almost fifty years!
You can complete your Beatles experience in Liverpool with a stay at the incredible McCartney suite or Lennon suite in the stunning Hard Day's Night Hotel which is the world’s first and only Beatles-inspired hotel, featuring Beatles artwork throughout. This unique boutique hotel pays homage to the Fab Four and their musical legacy.
Heritage, culture and architecture have always played an enormous role in this wonderful city culminating in Liverpool's iconic waterfront being designated a World Heritage Site, putting it on a par with the Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China. Located at the tidal mouth of the river Mersey where it meets the Irish Sea, the maritime mercantile City of Liverpool played a vitally important role in the growth of the British Empire. Liverpool has more museums and galleries than any other UK city region outside of London, attracting leading international exhibitions and record visitor numbers.
National Museums Liverpool (NML) operates museums and galleries across the City Region – Museum of Liverpool, World Museum Liverpool, Walker Art Gallery, International Slavery Museum, Merseyside Maritime Museum, Lady Lever Art Gallery, Sudley House and Border Agency National Museum – all of which are open seven days a week with free admission.
The £72m Museum of Liverpool, opened in 2011, is the largest newly-built national museum in Britain for more than a century and is the world’s first national museum devoted to the history of a regional city.
This distinctive building sits on the city’s famous waterfront, in between the Three Graces and the Albert Dock. The museum has attracted record visitor numbers and has welcomed more than two million visitors to date.
Liverpool is extremely proud of its two magnificent cathedrals, Anglican and Metropolitan, located at opposite ends of Hope Street, recently voted the best street in the UK. Gothic in design, Liverpool Cathedral is the largest Anglican cathedral in Britain and the fifth largest in the world. It was designed by architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, designer of the red telephone box and completed in 1978. The Tower Experience takes visitors to the very top of the cathedral for a bird’s eye view of the city. The journey to the top of the 331ft tower features two lifts and 108 steps, but it is well worth it for the breathtaking views. This fascinating city is also home to the first Chinatown in Europe. The Imperial Arch at the entrance to Chinatown is the largest outside of China, shipped from Shanghai piece by piece and standing some 15 metres tall, it’s one of the most spectacular sites in this Heritage City of Culture.
